..These notes are intended to assist anyone running a BBS under OS/2,
and ARPDoor for the TNC packet gateway.
..If you are running the DOS BBS <i.e. Wildcat! and possibly others>
in a DOS Window, change to run the BBS as a DOS Full Screen. If
this does not allow ARPD to run properly, it is time to check the
com port drivers. Things to look for in determining that ARPD is do-
ing right; will NOT open the TNC com port, you will not see the
TNC cmd: prompt, also, if ARPD does run the TNC, and you notice the
TNC data is randomly missing characters. This shows on the local
screen as well as at the remote. i.e. wddhf for wd5dhf............
..If you are not using SIO, these hints may still work for you.
..I recommend SIO by Ray Gwinn for OS/2, and if you are using SIO, it
is necessary that SIO NOT be loaded for the TNC port. Just turning
off the TNC port in the DOS settings for SIO does not work! Use SIO
ONLY for the BBS port. This allows the OS/2 com port drivers to be
used by ARPD to the TNC.
-- Run the BBS as a DOS FULL SCREEN
-- Load SIO via Config.sys for the BBS Port only
..It is just that easy, and works here just fine, but took quite a
while and a lot of 'BooTing' to find it.. You see, I like running
the BBS in a DOS Window.. This was the last thing I tried, it WORKS!
..Of course, it is imperative that ARPD has been configured properly
according to the ARPD documentation. I use a PK-88 for the TNC, and
have run it with a KPC-3. ARPD will run with these devices, as well
as the MFJ 12xx series TNCs.
